LC Reimbursements

The Prime L/C Reimbursements System provides the leading automated environment for processing bank to bank reimbursement authorizations and their related payment claims. The system provides unique capabilities that can fundamentally change and improve the operations of the bank.

Three primary goals were specified in the design and development of The Prime L/C Reimbursements System. They were:

  • Improve transaction efficiency and minimize operator effort,
  • Minimize common errors and improve the accuracy of transaction and payment processing, and
  • Improve the level of quality delivered to the bank's customers.
These goals have been achieved with the product and continue to serve as Metavante's guiding principals for the evolution of the product.

Desktop OFAC

Metavante Risk and Compliance Solutions Desktop OFAC provides functionality that has been tailored to the needs of small to medium sized financial institutions while including many of the features that exist in our enterprise product OFAC Reporter. Desktop OFAC provides a cost-effective solution for those institutions looking for single-user (each user installs a copy of the program rather than connect to a central server) file-filtering and desktop inquiry program.

For institutions interested in real-time processing, or with integrating OFAC compliance with other regulatory demands, Metavante recommends OFAC Reporter.

Prime Enterprise Messaging System

The Prime Enterprise Messaging System provides an integrated set of banking specific applications to meet the communications requirements of financial institutions. Support is provided for all major messaging requirements including telex, testkey, facsimile, email, cable, inter-branch messaging, multi-branch gateways, SWIFT, CHIPS, payment processing, Letter of Credit Reimbursements, and PC-based cash management. All of these services can be integrated with existing bank applications using the interface capabilities provided with the system.

The system is designed to provide distributed message capabilities to all areas of a bank eliminating the bottleneck typically found in a communications department. Every department can create and send messages as well as electronically receive incoming messages addressed to their area. The role of the communications department is enhanced to one responsible for controlling the transmission and receipt of messages.
Multiple branches can be supported in various ways to meet the autonomy and control requirements of the bank. Branches can be installed on single server systems as well as cooperating independent servers.

The Prime Enterprise Messaging System has been developed to significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of banking telecommunications requirements. Time spent on manual tasks is significantly reduced while assuring controlled and accurate processing of repetitive steps. Operational, as well as messaging costs, can be greatly reduced providing a short payback period for the system. The system can be configured so that many manual tasks can be automated resulting in less errors and more efficiency. Examples include auto routing, auto testkey extraction, etc.

A complete set of reports and inquiries is available to different levels of management. Inquiries can provide summary or detailed information for any message in the system. Carrier invoices can be easily reconciled against departmental message reports that contain duration and charges for store and forward and real-time messages. Long-term, on-line archives are also available allowing both the audit trail and the text of a message to be quickly located and displayed.

A "Search by Parameter" function is provided to assist the Investigations Department in finding a message among the many thousands that are normally kept in Metavante's on-line archives. An investigator may specify a range of dates, tested vs. untested, test amount, answer back, SWIFT TID, addressee, and text string to help select and display the correct message. Tremendous time savings as well as improved customer support can be realized with this feature.

Incoming message reconciliation is provided for both missing serial numbers and duplicate numbers. For SWIFT messages received by the system, OSN reconciliation is performed using all PDE and PDM trailers in the message. A report of missing and duplicate serial numbers can be produced both on-line and at end of day.

Using the many interfaces provided and adding custom interfaces as required, The Prime Enterprise Messaging System can serve as the central gateway for all of a bank's message needs. Both employees and existing banking applications can use the available services in a common manner. Messages can be passed between systems and individuals providing significant added value to current procedures. Transactions can be extracted from incoming SWIFT messages and interfaced to third party banking systems providing important operational efficiencies.

The Prime Enterprise Messaging system also includes a separate module called “Central Database Maintenance” to store detailed customer information. Customer information can be manually entered or it can also be automatically uploaded from legacy systems such as our VMS products. Also, customer information can be integrated with the Testkey Application to provide automatic test calculations.

All of the capabilities of the system are delivered with enforced operational controls and clear audit trails. Access to the system is monitored by The Prime Security System which assures that only authorized individuals can use the system and the functions assigned to them. Separation of duties can be assured by allowing the bank to determine which functions should be assigned to each employee. Additionally, the system will prohibit the same individual from performing multiple processing steps such as approving a tested message that he created. To retain the audit trail provided by a signature, all incoming messages must be electronically "signed" for. This signature along with the date and time is kept for the life of the message. All of the controls provided are enhanced with inquiries and reports that show all valid and failed access attempts, programs selected by employee, and the date, time, and employee that performed each significant processing step. The audit trail is saved on-line in long-term archives for quick investigation.
